Duties & Responsibilities:
- Ensuring accurate and timely input of financial data into accounting systems, spreadsheets, or other databases
- Regularly matching the company's financial records with bank statements to ensure accuracy and resolve any discrepancies
- Overseeing accounts receivable and accounts payable, ensuring timely payments and collections
- Preparing and lodging the BAS, including GST, PAYG withholding, and other tax liabilities
- Managing transactions that involve foreign currencies, including exchange rate calculations, adjustments, and ensuring compliance with tax laws
- Managing payroll, including calculating wages, deductions for tax, superannuation contributions, and ensuring compliance with workers' compensation requirements
- Overseeing and managing the company’s IT needs, which could involve coordinating with external service providers for IT support or managing software and hardware requirements
- Keeping track of the company’s assets, ensuring they are properly recorded, valued, and depreciated as necessary for accounting and tax purposes
- Taking care of general administrative duties such as office organization, supplies management, scheduling, and possibly assisting with customer or client inquiries
Role requirements:
- A background in freight forwarding in a similar role essential
- Experience using the finance arm of CargoWise an advantage
- A degree in finance, accounting or business or equivalent
- Computer literacy in MS Office applications
- Working knowledge of MYOB advantageous
- Excellent communication skills - oral and written
- High degree of attention to detail and problem-solving ability
- High level of personal drive, commitment and accountability
